Textbook: Fairyland 3B, Pupil’s Book, Uniscan Educational Group Timing: 50 minutes Lesson type: introducing new information – farm animals Skills: speaking, reading, writing Aids: eBook, textbook, notebooks Lesson aims: By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to: • Correctly pronounce names of farm animals. • Correctly spell names of farm animals. • Express preferences about farm animals, in sentences. • Answer to questions related to farm animals. Competences: 1.1. Identify the global significance of a clearly articulated oral message in a familiar context. 1.3. Understand age appropriate oral messages. 2.2. Participate in everyday conversations about familiar topics. 3.1. Understand global significance of simple texts about familiar topics. 3.3. Understand simple familiar messages from friends, peers, teacher. STAGES: Activity 1- Organising the class (5 min.) Teacher’s activity: enters the classroom, greets, she asks if anybody is absent, checks the homework and correct the mistakes, if any. Student’s activity: greet, answer to teacher’s questions, check their homework and correct the possible mistakes. Class management: whole-class activity Skills: speaking, reading, writing. Activity 2 – Warm up – Listening and singing along to a song ( 5 min.) Teacher’s activity: explains to students that they are going to listen and sing along to a song about farm animals (rabbits, ducks, sheep). Students’ activity: listen and sing along to the song. Class management: whole-class activity Skills: reading, speaking Activity 3 – Introducing new words related to farm animals ( 10 min.) Teacher’s activity: elicits the students to look at the new words, on page 31 (farm, duck, sheep, cow, chicken, goat) and explains to them that they have to listen to their pronunciation, from the eBook and repeat them, aloud, in choir. She corrects the possible pronunciation mistakes. Then, she draws the animals on the board and writes down their names and asks the students to do the same in their notebooks. She pronounces the words, more times and elicits the students to repeat after her. Students’ activity: listen carefully to the new words pronunciation and repeat them, aloud, in choir. Then, they draw the animals in their notebooks and write down their names. Class management: whole-class and individual activity Skills: speaking, reading, writing, drawing Activity 4 – Yes or no ( 5 min.) Teacher’s activity: elicits the students to read the sentences in exercise 2, page 30 and after looking carefully at the picture at the same page, to decide if they are true or false, writing down yes or no, in their notebooks. She listens to the students’ answers and corrects the possible mistakes. Students’ activity: read the sentences carefully, look at the picture and decide if the sentences are true or false, writing down their answers, then report to the class and correct the mistakes, if any. Class management: individual activity Skills: speaking, reading, writing. Activity 5 – Missing letter ( 5 min.) Teacher’s activity: gives the students a list of farm animals words and elicits them to write the missing letters. She listens to their answers and corrects the possible mistakes. Students’ activity: solve the task, report to the class and correct the mistakes, if any. Class management: individual activity Skills: writing, speaking Feed-back – Guess the animal – Drawing game ( 15 min.) Teacher’s activity: explains to students that they are going to play a game in which one of them will come to the board and start drawing one animal from the today’s lesson, part by part. The class will have to guess the drawn animal. After each drawn part, one student will ask: Is it a duck? And the student that is drawing the animal will have to answer: Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t , depending if the students who is asking is right or wrong. If the students don’t guess, the one who is drawing has to keep on drawing the animal, part by part, until someone is right. Students’ activity: solve the task.
