Teacher’s activity: enters the classroom, greets, she asks if anybody is absent, checks the homework and correct the mistakes, if any.

Activity 2 – Warm up ( 10 min.)
Teacher’s activity: displays a 2014 calendar and asks the students whether they recall the dates of the following holidays: Christmas, Halloween, New Year’s Eve, Mother’s Day, April Fool’s Day and Valentine’s Day in Britain ( e.g. When is Christmas celebrated in Britain). She gives them strips with the names of the holidays and asks the students that answer, to stick the name of the holidays on the dates, in the calendar.
Students’ activity: answer to the teacher’s questions ( e.g. In Britain, Christmas is celebrated on December 25th) and stick the holidays names on the calendar.

Activity 3 – Reading comprehension ( 20 min.)
Teacher’s activity: divides the students into 5 groups, giving each group a text, about different holidays in Britain. She asks the students to read the text and fill in a table, with some information, from the text.

Activity 4 – Quiz time (10 min.)
Teacher’s activity: elicits the students to ask each other questions about the holidays in Britain ( dates, customs, symbols, colours etc.), giving them some examples:
What are the colours of Halloween? The colours of Halloween are orange and black.
When is April Fool’s day celebrated in Britain? It is celebrated on April 1st.
Students’ activity: ask and answer to questions.

She plays the videos, listens to the students’ answers and corrects the mistakes, if any.
Students’ activity: watch the cartoons and write down the food and drinks items the spot. They report to the class and correct the mistakes, if any.

Activity 3 – Matching food and drinks with pictures (5 min.)
Teacher’s activity: elicits the students to look at some pictures in the textbook, page 82 and match them, with some food and drink words (e.g. biscuits – picture 6, meat – picture 7, cucumbers- picture 1, etc.). She listens to the students’ answers and corrects the mistakes, if any.

Activity 4 – Expressing likes and dislikes (10 min.)
Teacher’s activity: explains to students that the verbs used to express likes and dislikes ( like, love, don’t like/dislike and hate) are followed by verbs ending in ING ( E.g. I like eating chocolate./ I dislike drinking milk./ I love eating pizza./ I hate drinking soda.). Then, she elicits them to look again at the pictures from the textbook, pages 82-83 and to orally express their likes and dislikes, using the rule above and corrects the mistakes, if any.
Students’ activity: listen carefully to the rules explained by the teacher, look at the pictures and orally express their likes and dislike about food and drinks. They correct their mistakes, if any.

Do you like drinking milk? S1: No, I don’t like drinking milk. She listens to the students’ answers and corrects the mistakes, if any.

She corrects the possible pronunciation mistakes. Then, she draws the animals on the board and writes down their names and asks the students to do the same in their notebooks. She pronounces the words, more times and elicits the students to repeat after her.

Feed-back – Guess the animal – Drawing game ( 15 min.)
Teacher’s activity: explains to students that they are going to play a game in which one of them will come to the board and start drawing one animal from the today’s lesson, part by part. The class will have to guess the drawn animal. After each drawn part, one student will ask: Is it a duck? And the student that is drawing the animal will have to answer: Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t , depending if the students who is asking is right or wrong. If the students don’t guess, the one who is drawing has to keep on drawing the animal, part by part, until someone is right.
