On 15 January 2025, coinciding with Mihai Eminescu’s 175th birthday, the project “Dor de Eminescu / Missing Our National Poet” debuted with a creativity workshop at Liceul Teoretic „Radu Vlădescu”. The session paid homage to Eminescu’s literary legacy through multilingual artistic exploration fostering a collective reflection on Romanian culture.

February 2025 introduced a transdisciplinary workshop uniting literature, music, and visual arts under the themes of nature, love, and time - central motifs in Eminescu’s poetry. Our students engaged with Eminescu’s works in both Romanian and English versions (translated by Corneliu M. Popescu), exploring their artistic potential through collaborative creation. The activities improved the students' creativity, collaboration, and cultivated a deeper appreciation of language and culture.

In March 2025, the participating students presented their portfolios analyzing Eminescu’s poems on love, nature, and time. The exercise nurtured critical thinking and organizational skills - as the students collected sources, interpreted symbolism, and expressed reflections through illustrations and commentaries. This stage sharpened their analytical thinking and public speaking, while emotionally connecting them to Eminescu’s philosophical insights.

The most anticipated event, the Poetry Writing Competition, brought together talented poets across the county who, once again, honoured Eminescu’s memory  ensuring the echoes of his poetry remain vivid in the hearts and minds of the younger generations.

In conclusion, “Dor de Eminescu / Missing Our National Poet” is an educational initiative in Buzău County exemplifying how school partnerships can creatively engage youth with national literary heritage. By blending poetry, art, and poetic expression, the project has catalyzed critical and creative thinking, language skills, and cultural introspection.

“Scriitori pentru eternitate/Writers for Eternity” was a rewarding teaching and learning experience which cultivated the joy of reading in our school communities and encouraged our students to see literature not as something challenging and time-consuming, but as something relevant, inspiring, and connected to our minds and souls.
As a coordinator, I am grateful to and proud of all the students and teachers who made this project a success - and look forward to more creative journeys through English literature in the future!

Activităţile ludice, de învățare reciprocă, atelierul de comunicare în limba engleză, cu activități de remediere și/sau facilitare a limbajului și comunicării, cu impact în integrarea școlară și socială a participanților, atelierele-concurs de creație în limba română și în limba engleză, activitățile sportive în aer liber pentru îmbunătățirea cooperării și lucrului în echipă, vizita de cercetare în universul local, activitățile de promovare a sustenabilității și dezvoltării durabile, și excursia tematică având ca destinații Târgu Ocna și Slănic Moldova, au contribuit  la dezvoltarea competențelor lingvistice, au îmbunătățit abilităţile sociale, digitale, civice, competențele personale, de a învăța să înveți și de lucru în echipă ale  participanților, ceea ce a condus la creșterea motivației școlare și a nivelului de încredere al acestora  în forțele proprii, a facilitat integrarea socială, prevenind fenomenul absenteismului și favorizând echitatea în educație, incluziunea școlară, progresul și succesul academic ale participanților în anul școlar viitor.
De asemenea, proiectul a avut în  vedere promovarea unor atitudini responsabile și a unor comportamente sustenabile față de mediul înconjurător, îmbunătățirea parteneriatului dintre școală și comunitate, creşterea încrederii părinţilor în instituţia  şcolară, o mai bună colaborare pentru îndeplinirea scopurilor comune şi implicarea acestora în  sprijinirea activităţilor curriculare şi extracurriculare viitoare.
