Sociologia se aseamănă cu pedagogia, prin metode şi prin obiectul de studiu.

Filozofia conferă pedagogiei reflecţii asupra instruirii şi educaţiei.

Pedagogia se află în relaţie cu istoria, deoarece studiul fenomenelor istorice se corelează constant cu analize de ordin educaţional.

Pedagogia se foloseşte de logica pură sau formală, de logica întrebărilor, de logica deontică.

Dezvoltarea cognitivă a copiilor

1.	Resursă – oferă informaţiile pentru procesul de predare-învăţare;
2.	Propter – încurajează elevii să participle active în actul învăţării, punându-le întrebări ajutătoare;
3.	Tutore – lucrează cot la cot cu elevii, explicând pe larg lecţiile şi dându-le exerciţii;
4.	Evaluator – corectează, pe loc, greselile elevilor, prin feed-back rapid;
5.	Controlor – rol vital în învăţarea şi predarea eficientă la clasă;
6.	Participant în mod activ în procesul de predare-învăţare, facilitând rezolvarea sarcinilor de lucru;
7.	Corector de greşeli lingvistice, concomitent cu evaluarea competenţelor de limbă;
8.	Organizator al lecţiilor şi al activităţilor de învăţare, precum şi al modului de desfăşurarea al acestora (frontal, individual, în perechi, pe echipe);
9.	Dirijor – prin eficientizarea procesului de predare-învăţare, de către profesor, elevii înţeleg mai bine lecţia.

	In perioada 25 iulie-15 august 2021 am participat in calitate de insotitor de grup la o mobilitate Erasmus+, in Lisabona, Portugalia.

In ciuda acestui fapt, am reusit sa calatorim si sa ne simtim in siguranta, pe toata perioada sederii, urmand regulile in vigoare.

English idioms

Idioms are expressions used in a figurative way. “An idiom is a sequence of words which operates as a single semantic unit, and unlike many multi-word verbs the meaning of the whole cannot be deduced from an understanding of the parts e.g. never mind, hand on, under the weather, etc. The other feature of idioms is that they are often syntactically restricted e.g. someone can have a ‘chip on their shoulder’, but not a ‘shoulder with a chip’; and sometimes grammatically restricted e.g. you can have a ‘white elephant’, but the adjective cannot take the comparative form and become a ‘whiter elephant’.” ( Ruth Gairns and Stuart Redman, Working with Words - A Guide to Teaching and Learning Vocabulary, Cambridge University Press, 1993, pages 35-36.)
According to Michael McCarthy and Felicity O’Dell, there are seven types of idioms:
1. verb + object, for example: kill two birds with one stone (with the Romanian equivalent a împuşca doi iepuri dintr-un foc = a rezolva două treburi deodată);
2. prepositional phrase, for example: in the blink of an eye ( with the Romanian equivalent într-o clipită = îndată, imediat, numaidecât);
3. compound, for example: a bone of contention (with the Romanian equivalent mărul discordiei = un subiect de ceartă sau de dezacord);
4. simile ( as + adjective + as / like + noun), for example: as dry as a bone ( with the Romanian equivalent a fi uscat troscot = a fi foarte uscat);
5. binominal ( word + and + word), for example: rough and ready ( with the Romanian equivalent a fi necizelat = insufficient prelucat, brut, grosolan);
6. trinominal ( word + word + and + word), for example: cool, calm and collected (with the Romanian equivalent a avea un moment de respiro = a se relaxa, a fi calm);
7. whole clause or sentence, for example: to cut a long story short ( with the Romanian equivalent a spune-o pe aia dreaptă = a fi sincer, a fi direct).

Questionnaire – Learning vocabulary through modern strategies

Motivation: This questionnaire was applied with the purpose of finding out what types of modern strategies and activities are preferred by the 11th grade students, in order to improve their learning of English vocabulary.

Objectives:

1.	To give students the possibility to express their vocabulary learning modern strategies preferences.
2.	To receive feedback of already used modern strategies from students.
3.	To improve the process of teaching and learning of vocabulary in class.

Questionnaire
Learning vocabulary through modern strategies

            Circle the answer that best fits your option, on a scale from 1 to 5:

             1. How much do you like learning vocabulary with videos (films, trailers, etc)?
Not so much	1	2	3	4	5	Very much

             2. How much do you like learning vocabulary with music (songs, clips, etc)?
Not so much	1	2	3	4	5	Very much

             3. How much do you like learning vocabulary with drama (role-play, dialogues, etc)?
Not so much	1	2	3	4	5	Very much

             4. How much do you like learning vocabulary by drawing (posters, images, etc)?
Not so much	1	2	3	4	5	Very much

              5. How much do you like learning vocabulary through games (puzzles, etc)?
Not so much	1	2	3	4	5	Very much

             This questionnaire was applied on March 12, 2019, to a class of 23 students, 21 females and 1 male, with 4 absents. From the 18 present students, 17 were female and 1 male. The questionnaire includes a scale of 1 to 5 for answers, from Not so much to Very much.

             The results of the questionnaire are the following:

a) Question 1 (learning vocabulary with videos) – 11 students chose 5 (very much), 6 students chose 4 (much) and only 1 student chose 1(not so much).
b) Question 2 (learning vocabulary with music) – 11 students chose 5 (very much), 4 students chose 4 (much), 1 student chose 3 (OK), and 2 students chose 1 (not so much).
c) Question 3 (learning vocabulary with drama) – 4 students chose 5 (very much), 7 students chose 4 (much), 4 students chose 3 (OK) and 3 students chose 2 (not much).
d) Question 4 (learning vocabulary by drawing) – 6 students chose 5 (very much), 5 students chose 4 (much), 5 students chose 3 (OK), 1 student chose 2 (not much) and 1 student chose 1 (not so much).
e) Question 5 (learning vocabulary through games) - 11 students chose 5 (very much),1 student chose 4 (much), 4 students chose 3 (OK), 2 students chose 2 (not much).

Suggestions: According to the results of this questionnaire, students prefer the use of videos, music and games, while learning new words in English. On the one hand, it is advisable that these types of modern strategies to be used in the future, adding a series of new activities, that can increase the students’ attention span and productivity in class. On the other hand, the use of drama and drawing should not be left aside, but they should be used in other forms, changing the activities or integrating them in lessons, in other ways, in order to offer learners the possibility to discover their artistic talents and used them, while learning English.

Non-traditional ways to form words in English

The author Rochelle Lieber, 2009, considers that there are a number of non-traditional ways to form words in English, less common than the three described above, such as:
1. Coinage is the process of forming new combinations of words by recycling bases and affixes or making up completely new words, for example:
•	coined names of new products, used as common nouns, such as: Kodak-kodak, Xerox-xerox, Kleenex-kleenex;
• very rare coined new words, such as: blivet ( an intractable problem), mung ( to mess up), grok (deep understanding) and mongo (objects retrieved from garbage).
2. Backformation is the word-formation process, typical to native speakers, in which the base comes before the affixes, the opposite of attaching an affix to a base from standard derivation. For example: the verb surveil comes from the noun surveillance, the verb incent comes from the noun incentive, the verb peddle comes from the noun peddler, as the verb edit comes from the noun editor, etc.
3. Blending is a process of word formation in which parts of lexemes that are not themselves morphemes are combined to form a new lexeme (Lieber, 2009). Examples include: brunch ( breakfast + lunch), smog ( smoke + fog), skitch ( skate + hitch), etc.
4. Acronyms and initialisms are new words created with the first letters that form a word, such as: FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigations), AIDS ( Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome), PR (Public Relations), 2PS ( Two Piece Suit), CN ( Cotton/ Nylon), DES (design/ Designer), FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology), LG (Large), MW (Machine Washable), PKT (Pocket), S (Small), 2WS ( Two Wheel Steer), AAT (Ambient Air Temperature), A/C (Air Conditioning), ADL (Automatic Door Lock), CFI (Central Fuel Injection), DFI (Direct Fuel Injection), DIST (Distributor), EC (Electrical Center), etc.
5. Clipping is the process through which already existing words are shorten to form new ones, such as: info (information), blog (web log), fridge (refrigerator), auto (automobile), gas (gasoline), pants (pantaloons), amp (ampere), store (storehouse), lab (laboratory), tubelight (tube), beaut (beauty), fab (fabulous), pro (professional), sweats ( sweat suit), etc.
