"BOOKFEST 2024" – The Multimedia Presentation Contest for the eTwinning Project Participants

10 Main Rules of the Transnational Competition in English
1. ”Bookfest 2024” is a transnational competition and one of the main activities of the homonymous eTwinning project founded in 2023 by two eTwinning schools 2023-2024: Liceul Teoretic "Radu Vlădescu", located in Pătârlagele, Romania and Liceul Teoretic “Mihai Eminescu”, located in Florești, the Republic of Moldova.
2. Before the contest, the 4 teachers of English and their students will discuss the project aims and the criteria on the evaluation form so that the expectations in terms of the preparation, delivery and evaluation become clear to everyone. If necessary, the teachers will show a sample presentation.
3. The multimedia competition will be held in January 2024, both locally and transnationally. The finalists’ presentations from each school will be sent to be judged by the teachers from the partner school. Each teacher will select a maximum number of 10 presentations for the transnational competition final.
4. The topics of the competition that the participants may choose from are: 1) My favourite Book; 2) My Favourite Literary Character; 3) My Favourite Novelist.
5. Each participant can enter only one of the two competition sections below:
A) Digital presentations in Power-Point, Canva, Google Slides, Book Creator, Story Jumper (which will not exceed 10 slides or 10 pages);
B) Self-recorded video speeches (which will be at least 3 minutes long).
6. The jury will evaluate and decide the winners of the competition based on the following criteria for each section:
A – Digital presentations: relevance - 20 points, creativity and originality - 20 points, impact and persuation - 20 points, language accuracy, spelling and punctuation - 20 points, protection of copyright and intellectual property (appropriate attribution and proper citation of sources ) - 20 points;
B – Self-recorded video speeches: content - 20 points, delivery - 20 points, creativity and originality - 20 points; impact and persuasion - 20 points, language accuracy and pronunciation - 20 points.
7. Each presentation must include information on the following: the project title, both the eTwinning and project logos, the contestant name, grade and school and the chosen topic.
8. The coordinating teachers will get the written consent from the participants (if they are 18 years old) or the participants’ parents to use and process their personal data, voice and image (name, age, grade, school affiliation, photographic materials, video recordings) both for this particular eTwinning project activity and for related future activities.
9. The 1st prize will be awarded for 95-100 points, the 2nd prize will be awarded for 90-94 points, the 3rd prize will be awarded for 85-89 points and Honorary Mentions will be awarded for 80-84 points.
10. All the competition winners and the coordinating teachers will receive diplomas signed and stamped by the principals of both partner schools. The competition winners will be announced and promoted on the eTwinning project TwinSpace before January 31st 2024.

Prima mobilitate de grup din cadrul Proiectului Erasmus Nr. 2023-1-RO01-KA121-SCH-000130265

În perioada 6-10 noiembrie 2023, doisprezece elevi din clasele V-VIII, de la Liceul Teoretic “Radu Vlădescu”, însoțiți de trei cadre didactice, au participat la prima mobilitate de grup din cadrul Proiectului Nr. 2023-1-RO01-KA121-SCH-000130265, în primul an al Acreditării Erasmus.

Activitățile de învățare din cadrul acestei mobilități transnaționale, care au vizat promovarea incluziunii și echității sociale, și a diversității culturale și lingvistice în beneficiul grupurilor vulnerabile, au fost organizate la OŠ "Vladimir Nazor" în Komletinci, Slavonija, Croația.

Programul mobilității a inclus ateliere colaborative lingvistice, digitale, de comunicare, etnografie și folclor, activități sportive, vizite culturale etc., beneficiile pentru participanții români aflați la prima experiență de acest fel fiind numeroase, de la îmbunătățirea unor competențe-cheie, până la dezvoltarea unor atitudini și valori specifice unei societăți interculturale.

Datorită programului Erasmus+ finanțat de Uniunea Europeană, comunitatea noastră școlară a fructificat oportunități compensatorii de învățare, șansa de a realiza activități personalizate pentru reprezentanții unor grupuri vulnerabile, reușind astfel să valorifice potențialul transformator al resurselor și practicilor pedagogice europene și să favorizeze accesul la o educație de calitate pentru toți.

BOOKFEST 2024 - An eTwinning partnership for quality in education

Bookfest 2024 is a bilateral transdisciplinary project implemented by two eTwinning high schools: Liceul Teoretic “Radu Vlădescu” Pătârlagele (Romania) and Liceul Teoretic “Mihai Eminescu”, Florești (The Republic of Moldova) in order to meet the educational and personal development needs of their school communities in the 2023-2024 school year.

The project languages are Romanian and English, the main subjects related to the project being Language and Literature, Foreign languages, ICT, Art and Civics.

The main key competences to be developed and/or improved during the activities are: the literacy competence, the multilingual competence, the digital competence, the personal, social and learning to learn competence, the civic competence and the cultural awareness and expression competence.

The main aims of the partnership are: to identify, share and integrate knowledge, skills, innovative teaching, learning and assessment techniques transgressing disciplinary practice in order to improve the key competences of the participating pupils as well as their digital literacy, critical thinking, problem-solving skills and creativity and to promote pupils as agents of change and both school communities as inclusive and innovative learning organisations as well as their values following the eTwinning School Mission: the commitment to shared leadership, collaboration, sharing and team work.

The expected results consist of: a portfolio of original learning, teaching and assessment resources, multimedia presentations, a virtual exhibition of literary/motivational posters and two final collaborative books, in Romanian and English.

The European Day of Languages 2023

The European Day of Languages on 26 September has been an opportunity to raise awareness about language learning and linguistic diversity since 2001. Since then cultural institutes and associations, universities and school communities have taken part in this annual event organised throughout the European Union.

This year, the main event will be an online conference on 26 September - “Teaching language skills at the heart of the European Education Area” , from 12:00 to 14:00 (Brussels time). Its main purpose will be to identify EU tools to help language teachers boost their capacity, notably via the Erasmus + programme and the European School Education Platform.

The European Year of Skills will also be celebrated as multilingualism is one of eight key competences needed for personal fulfilment, a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, employability, active citizenship and social inclusion.

The objectives of the European Day of Languages 2023 are similar to those of the initial 2001 campaign:

- celebrating linguistic diversity in Europe, the plurilingualism of its citizens and lifelong language learning;
- improving awareness of Europe’s linguistic heritage and promoting its rich diversity by encouraging openness to different languages and cultures;
- motivating European citizens to develop plurilingualism (the ability to use different languages, to whatever standard) to achieve a degree of proficiency in a number of languages, including those less widely used or taught;

Tema eTwinning a anului 2024: starea de bine la școală

Dacă, în anul 2023, eTwinning a promovat Inovația și educația la nivel european, anul viitor va fi dedicat sănătății mintale, mai exact stării de bine emoționale, psihice și sociale. Cadrele didactice, alături de elevi și părinți, vor fi îndrumate și încurajate să cultive un mediu școlar sigur, primitor și prietenos, în care fiecare membru al comunității se simte valorizat și primește sprijinul necesar pentru a reuși atât din punct de vedere academic sau profesional, cât și personal, atingându-și potențialul maxim.

Astfel, fiecare școală va avea oportunitatea de a integra practici pedagogice și proiecte bazate pe principiile echității și incluziunii, care prioritizează sănătatea emoțională, prin armonizarea și optimizarea relațiilor dintre membrii comunităților școlare, creșterea coeziunii, și cultivarea unor atitudini și comportamente bazate pe empatie, toleranță, non-violență și reziliență.

Anul stării de bine la școală va contribui în mod cert la îmbunătățirea calității vieții în mediul școlar și la obținerea unor rezultate mai bune, pe de o parte datorită beneficiilor educației pozitive, iar pe de altă parte ca urmare a combaterii unor comportamente nesănătoase sau chiar antisociale, precum (cyber)bullying-ul, violența școlară etc.
